On Laichat, I researched and designed from the teacher's perspective rather than the student's end (which set up a different modality from the previous Linga project which was more student-focused.)
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
Laichat was a project established in 2015 by Junwei Sun, Hau Chen (the former VP at Goldman Sachs), myself, and engineer Lloyd Emelle. The purpose of this project was to find a way to connect ESL teachers in the West to Chinese language learners in the East to practice the English language. To solve this problem, we wanted to hire ESL teachers in America, Britain, and Australia to give live language lessons to Chinese students trying to learn English from China and use our app to do so.
